By using a strong, clear font, I made sure the logo has impact at all times and from all angles. The font also fitted in with the design perfectly, with the ‘Cs’ fitting perfectly as wheels for the car.

I decided to go for an approach which would have an immediate impact on those present at the event, looking to contrast a dark background with bright, ‘in-your-face’ colours.

I focused on the iconic architecture of the campus, and related this to the opportunities at the college – hence using the phrase ‘Think Outside The Box’.

I went with a sleek, dynamic font in an attempt to reach out to the target market. The three green circles represent a forward thinking approach to learning, the strive to meet goals, and achievement. The repeated use of this mark across media gives a strong, easily recognisable brand.

Along with the outer casing, an inner for the Digipak was required. This required a lot of text, and as such led to a more restrained approach to the design, without sacrificing the theme of the casing.

Along with the casing, a CD body design was required. The brief meant that the colours on the CD were limited in order to control printing costs – meaning it was more difficult to continue the theme from the other parts of the CD artwork.

Finally, an advert was requested in order to inform potential buyers of the re-release of the album.

I also took an active role in the design of this site, from the branding up to the web screen design itself. I tried to reflect the nature of the games industry, taking inspiration from a number of current gaming trends.

The logo I designed focuses around the word ‘Emit’, with the look reflecting that of an aerial transmitting information. Turn it upside down and it echos the traditional on/off symbol – indicating the electronic nature of the label.

As well as the logo, I was required to design stationery for the business, including business cards and letterheads. This meant retaining professionalism whilst not being disconnected from the branding – helped by the corporate style guide I developed.

The approach was to keep the website as simple as possible, placing the focus on the photography exhibited through the portfolio.

As Dan is himself a designer, the process of ideas generation was different to my usual approach – meaning a collaborative design effort focused around Dan’s needs and wants.

I also built a HTML email template to give a professional edge to the communications sent out by the company, as well as completing a number of marketing materials.
